A true rarity - I may be the only person who has this movie, "Run for Cover". I don't think it was ever released, but Lynn appears in this single scene - which certainly captures her unique style. Enjoy!
P.S. When I showed this to her a few years ago, she thought it was HYSTERICAL - but was glad it didn't get much attention.
I keep studying this piece as I have a fondness for high art...
Notice how the homeless guy doesn't mind that the guy steals his hat and coat to wear as a disguise.
I know whenever I'm feeling like a change, or need a quick disguise, I find some homeless guy under a bridge. I know that he will always have an extra hat and coat, and that they will always be clean and somewhat stylish. AND that he won't mind me taking them. Homeless people got all kinds of extra stuff laying around.
Where is Peter Travers and Roger Ebert on this?
I haven't seen this kind of realism in film since Road House.

So-o-o great. Thanks so much.

Dude, she didn't hate you or wish you dead.
And she never banned you or whatever.
Enough with the drama, dude.
She took your calls, she talked to you like any other listener... In fact, she had an 'old friend' quality in her voice when she talked to you...
Then you'd wrap up every call by going off the rails and saying really evil and nasty shit about her bosses at Sirius. And she'd have to dump you. She couldn't let that go on.
You're such a drama queen.
I remember the last time you called. When she said, "David in Ecuador." I thought... "Oh, brother... the shit is going down."
Sure enough. The second you got on the air you were like, "Uhhh... Sorry but I have to call you back. Somebody just died and I'm putting out fires."
And Lynn was like, "Ok.. thanks for calling."
Then she took your call again and put you right back on the air.
It all makes me laugh now. It makes me smile just thinking about it.
Lynn was the coolest.

Alex Bennett mentioned the tribute
show this morning and did not like
some of the comments about it on this site. It really "upset" him..
lol!

Good clip. I was flummoxed when I heard she'd died.
Posted by: sanda | January 03, 2012 at 01:29 PM
Well, if he's reading this site... Here's some more, Alex...
These Liberal limp-noodle men are all doing what Liberals do... projecting their own self-hatred and misery onto other people. In this case, a dead person named Lynn Samuels.
She was not a recluse. Maybe she didn't like these whiny, miserable bastards. But she was emailing me a couple times a week. And I wasn't unique. She was in contact with tons of people every day. And we are finding out now that when she left her apartment, she was having all kinds of interesting interactions with people all over New York.
Just because she didn't go to bullshit cocktail parties or events... doesn't mean she was some shut-in cut off from the world.
What's fascinating to me is lumpy losers like Alex Bennett and Richard Bey... with his phony soothing tones masking that anger that's just oozing out of him.... Or even Mike Feder... who she apparently liked... And I enjoyed his tribute show... Well done... (Hey Mike, cut out the cheese from your diet and it will cut down on that phlegm you were fighting all night.).. But even Mike admitted on the air that he's not a happy person...
...I find it fascinating to hear all these miserable dopes standing over her grave and wringing their hands and passing judgment on her. "Lonely." "Recluse." "Troubled." "Hard Life."
Bullshit. That's you guys.
Go look at the Flikr pictures Lynn posted. She still had that glimmer in her eye and that mischevious "I know something you don't know" look on her face.
She was happy and child-like and fun.
What she knew that you didn't know... is something these mopes can't get their heads around...
Lynn set about to live her life according to her own standards.... defiant, consistent and honest.
Did that come with some bruises and scars and set-backs? Of course.
The world attacks you if you choose to do your own thing. Look at how she's being back-handed by these guys during their "Tribute" of her.
Lynn had a great life.
She lived in the city she loved.
She worked her whole life in a field she found truly inspiring. Think about how rare that is. (Hint: Truck driving is not my passion.)
She was curious, self-deprecating, humorous, charming, and full of life. Right til the end.
She was full on. She lived.
These guys all offering their pronouncements are already dead. They just don't know it.
We were all with Lynn when she died. She wasn't alone.
And whatever heartbreak she suffered in her life... it was at the hands of the walking dead zombies like these clowns who are now all shaking their heads at "Poor Lynn.. what a difficult life."
Bullshit.
Lynn died the same way she lived.
With more dignity, more honor, more confidence, more fulfillment, more happiness and yes.. more inner peace than any of these jokers will ever know.
Her honesty in living gives her grace in death.

Well said, Grumpy. I just like the shit out of you. Please go on giving those basturds HELL. I hope it hurts Alex every time he read's it. I'd call him up and give him the what-for, but I can't stand five seconds of his dumb-ass show. It reminds me of my sixth grade class room.

Thank you, grumpytrucker :You put into words what many of us are feeling about our loss.Lynn was truly loved by people who really knew her.We are better people for it,Lynn Samuels was a once in a lifetime person and she took with her a piece of all our hearts.

Finally, I *real* tribute. I couldn't agree with GT more. Lynn had a full life (though we all wish it could have been longer) of doing exactly what she wanted. I doubt she had any regrets. Looks like her life was filled with laughter, friends, family, and many, many admirers. People respected her and still do. She lived admirably, which is more than many can say.

Grumpy you are just too much! Are you channeling in Lynn? You are so right about AB and RBey. Lynn had more talent in her pinkie, then they'll ever have.

Grumpy Trucker, what great words and feelings! No one could be more eloquent in your understanding of why we all loved Lynn so than you just were. Thanks for putting into words our thoughts and feelings. That, was what a tribute is supposed to be....
Alex and Richard and Mark, STFU!
Alice in PA

Thanks, everyone.
And Alice, you are my hero for the way you called into Richard and gave him hell. I wish I had your courage.
I wish I had Lynn's courage. What an utterly fearless woman.
I just want Lynn's life to be celebrated. I think that's what she would have wanted.
Not demeaned by men who know nothing but demeaning themselves and resenting the world they've created for themselves.
She had 69 years.
Doing what she loved.
Living in a city that made her feel alive and part of life.... giving everybody hell... and loving every second of it.
Not a bad run.

Grumpy Trucker, if I may add my $0.02....although I am an Alex Bennett fan (mainly because I've listened to him on & off since the 70s) I have to say you are one FUCK of a great writer! Seriously, you should have your own show. And I agree that calling Lynn a shut-in is wrong. I wish somebody would give me an ISDN line (or whatever it's called), I'd work from home too! Anyway thanks for doing such a great job helping to keep Lynn's memory alive for those of us not quite as articulate.

Grumpy, you are waste of talent, driving a truck.. I want you to write, write, write. I know why Lynn liked you. Your passion combined with your writing talent is a thing of beauty. Never stop. Your welcome in Alabama any time(shit-hole that it is) Ha!

Guys and gals...Alex is just looking for material...He said it himself on the tribute...now that Lynn is gone...he is losing material. (a joke)
Lynn, a shut in, recluse? I think not. Look at all these people and neighbors giving her a shout out. RIP, buddy.

I just finished listening to the first two podcasts and I wanna thank you so much for them. They were well put together and the clips were great. Each clip had a special meaning. I was very touched by all the clips in the second podcast with Lynn talking about death and people's thoughts on her. I look forward to more!
